Ben currently serves as Lancashire Music Service's (LMS) Deputy Head, following nine years working as a Regional Manager for the service. LMS is part of the Education and Skills directorate of Lancashire County Council (LCC) and is also the Hub Lead Organisation for Lancashire Music Hub (LMH). Ben was previously a secondary school music teacher in Lancashire, Cheshire, and Sydney, prior to working for LMS. He has written the LMS music technology strategy, featuring award-winning initiatives such as the accessible instruments and music technology library and the Mobile Music Vehicle (MMV). This strategy supports mainstream and specialist schools across Lancashire and Blackpool. As part of his broader duties in his role he manages schools, teachers, instruments and resources, alongside responsibilities for LCC and LMH. He is also a member of Music Mark's national Digital Innovation in Music Education (DIME) alliance, which is an alliance committed to raising awareness of innovative digital technologies to benefit young people's music education.
